Teaser Tuesday: DOSAB Edition

Time for another Teaser Tuesday from Should Be Reading!

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1)

I am currently reading the heavily praised Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. Don't hate me, but I'm not as impressed. Her writing style just isn't to my tastes. I mean, "Mondayness"? "Januaryness"? Reallyness? But it got better (somewhat), so I plan to finish it. My two teaser sentences from DOSAB:

“It seemed impolite to peek, as if Izîl’s…condition…ought to be ignored, like a lazy eye or birthmark. His shadow revealed what looking at him directly did not.”

So what are you reading today?

  3. I enjoy Laini Taylor's writing and her willingness to experiment with words. No one can turn a phrase like her. To me, she's a phenomenal writer producing intelligent stories. Unique, fresh, original, daring.

I respect your opinion. I hope you enjoy the rest of the book, but if not, try her book Lips Touch Three Times. I loved this even more than DoSB. It's epic. Let me know what you think of DoSB and LTTT if you read it.

I wasn't too impressed with The Night Circus, but it was good. The circus itself is the most remarkable character of all.

I'm reading The Creative Brain and struggling through Order of the Phoenix.

  4. I'm reading The Knife of Never Letting Go. And I love it. It's messy and violent and... and interesting. The most interesting book involving mind control that I've ever read... The style is hard to explain, and I think you either gotta love it or hate it, but I LOVE it.
