Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! This week's topic:

Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2013
(and the amazing books that brought them into my world)

A.G. HowardSplintered (Splintered, #1)

She pulled me in with "an Alice in Wonderland retelling" and kept me reading to the end with her highly imaginative storytelling. Can't wait to start the sequel, Unhinged!

Victoria SchwabThe Archived (The Archived, #1)

Couldn't resist a story set in a library! She's since written an adult book, Vicious, which I have yet to read but really wait to, and The Unbound, sequel to The Archived, is due out soon!

The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1)

The False Prince showed some serious writing talent while spinning an engrossing tale. The sequel, The Runaway King, came out earlier this year, and the final book in the series, The Shadow Throne, is due out next year!

Kasie WestPivot Point (Pivot Point, #1)

Kasie is an amazing writer and an amazing lady. I also read her contemporary romance, The Distance Between Us, this year, and look forward to Pivot Point's sequel, Split Second (releasing early next year) and another contemporary romance, On the Fence (releasing next summer) with great anticipation!

Josin L. McQueinArclight (Arclight, #1)

Arclight blew me away with its originality and engrossing prose. The sequel, Meridian, is due out in April, and Josin also released a YA thriller, Premeditated, late this year.

Natalie WhippleTransparent (Transparent, #1)

Loved the fun and snark that was Transparent so much I read it twice! I was lucky to win a copy of the sequel, Blindsided, which I also loved, and look forward to The House of Ivy & Sorrow (due out April), as well as a self-publishing venture entitled Relax, I'm a Ninja (due sometime next year).

Dawn MetcalfIndelible (The Twixt, #1)

Indelible was original and stunning, and I immediately went in search of her debut title, Luminous! I look forward to Indelible's sequel, Invisible, next April!

Marissa MeyerCinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)

Can't believe it took me so long to get on The Lunar Chronicles bandwagon, but I'm now one of the people who takes a shift holding the reins. Scarlet (Book 2) was just as awesome as Cinder, and I am now dying to get my hands on Book 3, Cress. If Marissa writes it, I shall read it.

The Collector (Dante Walker, #1)

Loved Victoria's writing style, and Dante Walker was such a fun character! I am now a V Mafia member (Boss Victoria's street team), and eagerly await the first book in her upcoming YA Dystopian series, Fire & Flood (releasing in February)!

Avalon (Avalon, #1)

After completing her amazing YA sci-fi thriller Avalon, I immediately picked up her debut title, The Nightmare Affair, which I absolutely loved as well. I now impatiently await the sequel to both.

What amazing authors were you introduced to this year?

  1. Some great books on your list! I read Pivot Point a few weeks ago and loved it! I had to follow up with The Distance Between Us because I needed more Kasie West. I am just getting caught up on my YA reading, so I got to Divergent this year, and Shatter Me, and a whole bunch of others I am awaiting sequels and other books in trilogies and such. 2014 is going to be great :)

Yes, looking fw to more Kasie West and Josin McQuein! Oh, I have INDELIBLE to read! *bumping up list now* Marissa Meyer, love her! Join me Feb 2-8 for A Week of Rapunzel to celebrate CRESS! I really want to read THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR. Good choices!

  4. Yes to all of the ones that I have read. Most of these books are on my list of books that I need to read, but haven't. But I agree with A.G. and Meyer!

  7. That's a rather amazing list. So many of these authors are ones I am still dying to read myself. I especially want to read Meyer, Schwab and West. I have Splintered, Unhinged and Avalon and hopefully I can read them soon too. Great picks :) New GFC and BL follower. My TTT.
