Stacking the Shelves (10/12/13)

Time for another Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews, where I share the books that I've added to my shelves this week.

EPIC LIBRARIAN HAUL:

(I have several of these titles already up for trade on the YA Exchange here!)

The titles I was immediately excited about were:
  • Altered by Gennifer Albin - After Crewel's rather explosive ending, I'm really interested to see where this series goes!
  • Pawn by Aimee Carter - I've been hearing good things, and it definitely looks interesting.
  • Independent Study by Joelle Charbonneau - It's been a long and impatient wait, but I finally got my hands on a copy!
  • The Glass Casket by McCormick Templeman - At first glance this wasn't a book for me, but the summary is definitely intriguing and creepy so I'll give it a try!

WON:

I won a 15-book giveaway from Krystal @ Live to Read! I had no idea what was coming, so I was really excited at some of these tieles!
(She's holding a second 15-book giveaway right now - enter here to win!)

OTHERS:
Untold (The Lynburn Legacy, #2)
  • Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan (ARC - Arcycling) - My first snag from Arcycling. I had mixed feelings about Unspoken, but I hear this one is better. Here's hoping!

Stacking the Shelves (9/28/13)

Time for another Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews, where I share the books that I've added to my shelves this week.

EPIC LIBRARIAN HAUL:
(I have several of these titles already up for trade on the YA Exchange here!)

The titles I was immediately excited about were:
  • Through the Zombie Glass by Gena Showalter - I haven't read Alice In Zombieland yet, which is actually a shock since I'm such a major Alice fan, but I'll definitely be grabbing it soon!
  • The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas - Definitely excited for this one! Will be getting to it very soon.
  • This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales - This author will be here on the 30th for the Fierce Reads tour, so I was excited to be able to read it before she came. But it's really not my kind of read, so I'm struggling.
  • Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano - It seems like everyone was excited for this book - except me. I'm giving it a try, though.
  • Relic by Renee Collins - I already snagged a finished paperback from the publisher during a Twitter giveaway, but I'm definitely excited to read this book!

OTHERS:
Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)
  • Cinder and Scarlet by Marissa Meyer (Hbk - Purchased New) - You know a series is good when I purchase the hardcovers new to get them signed. So excited for the Fierce Reads tour stop here on the 30th!

Stacking the Shelves (8/3/13)

>>GIVEAWAY ALERT<<
I'm giving away a signed ARC of Life After Theft
by Aprilynne Pike - enter to win it here!

Time for another Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews, where I share the books that I've added to my shelves this week (and last week as well, actually).

EPIC LIBRARIAN HAUL:

Way too many books to list here, but the ones I was immediately excited about were:
  • Love In the Time of Global Warming by Francesca Lia Block - Tiny little thing, and the cover and title are just too interesting not to give it a try.
  • Belle Epoque by Elizabeth Ross - Originally dismissed this as just another historical romance, but upon reading the summary I discovered its premise is exactly what I'm super-excited about with Kiera Cass's upcoming series! Seriously looking forward to this one now.
  • The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani - I thought this was a graphic novel and never gave it a second look. Now that I actually have the book, it sounds awesome - can't wait to read it!
  • Antigoddess by Kendare Blake - I've been told I must read it, and therefore I will give it a try.
  • Relic: The Books of Eva by Heather Terrell - Sounds interesting - I'm game.
  • The Coldest Girl In Coldtown by Holly Black - I hated her fairy series (only read Book 1) but loved her Curseworkers series, so I'm unsure if I'll like this one or not. Will definitely give it a try, though!
  • Sylo by D.J. MacHale - Some people love it, some people hate it. I guess I'll give it a try and see for myself.
  • The 100 by Kass Morgan - Apparently there's going to be a television show? I wasn't really attracted to this one, but Epic Librarian recommended it and everyone is talking about it so I've added it to the TBR pile.

OTHERS:
The Bride Wore Black LeatherNot a Drop to Drink
The Program (The Program, #1)Frozen (Heart of Dread, #1)
  • The Bride Wore Black Leather by Simon R. Green (MMP - Purchased New) - The last Nightside book for sale at the moment! My collection is caught up, but I'll take my time polishing them off as they are my mindless reads.
  • Not A Drop To Drink by Mindy McGinnis (ARC - Gift) - Thank you to Flannery @ The Readventurer for sending this my way! I am in the need of this type of read right now.
  • The Program by Suzanne Young (HBK, signed - Gift) - Major thanks to my local bookish gal Ashley @ yAdult Review! And she brought it for me the night the author was signing, so I got it signed and personalized! While waiting to get it signed, best-selling author Aprilynne Pike told me to read it without delay, so its time shall come very soon (or people will start coming after me).
  • Frozen by Melissa de la Cruz & Michael Johnston (ARC - Traded) - My #1 must-have this summer and someone finally traded with me! (Seriously, I tried about half a dozen people before I finally found Rachael of Moosubi Reviews!.) Top of my To-Read pile!

Stacking the Shelves (6/22/13)

Time for another Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews, where I share the books that I've added to my shelves this week.

EPIC LIBRARIAN* HAUL:

*Epic Librarian (as she will now be known) is a local teen librarian who gives me the ARCs she has no time to read. I happily give them homes (either my own or others) and she gets the footspace under her desk back for periods of time, so we both win! :)

There are too many books to list here, but the ones I was immediately excited about were:
  • Premeditated by Josin McQuein - I normally avoid mysteries, but I loved Josin's Arclight so I'm actually excited for this one! It is on top of my TBR list.
  • Altered by Jennifer Rush - I hadn't given this a glance before, but holy heck this sounds like an epic book! Cannot wait to devour it.
  • Dualed by Elsie Chapman - Mixed reviews about it, but since I have a copy I'll give it a try.
  • Tandem by Anna Jarzab - Did not like the last parallel-worlds book I tried, so hoping this one (with its fantasy elements, which I desperately need right now) will redeem the genre.
  • Let the Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger - I have been told time and again to read this book, so now that I have a pretty paperback copy it will get done. (Happy now, Ash?)
  • Scarlet by Marissa Meyer - I have yet to read Cinder, but I hear this series is good. I don't normally read out of order, but I've heard rumors that you can read Scarlet without having read Cinder - is this true? Because I might just do it... The "wild" me - embrace it. ;)
  • Ink by Amanda Sun - It had me at "set in Japan."
  • The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson - This one will either be epic or a yawn for me. I absolutely adored Brandon's Alcatraz series, but his adult books were just too technical to even finish, even if he is the master of magic.

OTHERS:

Miss Fortune CookieProxy (Proxy, #1)Legend (Legend, #1)
  • Miss Fortune Cookie by Lauren Bjorkman (ARC - Traded) - Sounded cute so I'll give it a try.
  • Proxy by Alex London (ARC - Traded) - I've always been fascinated with the concept of a "whipping boy" - looking forward to this one.
  • Legend by Marie Lu (PBK - Purchased Used) - Like discovering a gem on a beach of pebbles, I found this beauty at a library Friends for $1.
